This article really captures some important points about the show Firefly. Inara and Saffron both use the seduction and power of language to seduce and control men. In one part of the episode Inara notes to the captain how Saffron and been tought the acts of seduction, including ways to influence with language. These women are both intelligent and beautiful, which in turn, becomes a deadly combination to any of there foes or targets. These skills allow them to take advantage and reap the benefits of those that cross there paths.

I agree with you, they are extremely dangerous. With their training in the art of seduction, they can get whatever they want.
ReplyDeleteSeduction is a weapon and its damage is determined by the person who is using it! I think it can be used just as a friendly manuever or as dangerous manipulation that can make people do crazy things that they would otherwise never do!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Hillary. Seduction can be used for both good and bad and based upon a persons intentions it can have a fine or possibly dangerous outcome.
ReplyDeleteI agree that these skills does help them get what they want. In this case, they have been using it for their own good. It seems like they are really skilled with what they do, and in turn they do take advantage of people.

ReplyDeleteWhen Inara explains to Mal that Saffron learned the acts of seduction it shows that though what she may be doing is morally wrong, it requires a level of charisma that many people may not be able to attain.
